PS 243 Field Trip

Change for Kids on Film

P.S. 243 Goes To The Museum of Natural History

Directed By: Amy Schatz

On Tuesday, May 2nd, 2000 CFK is busing four kindergarten classes from P.S. 243, "Weeksville School" to the Museum of Natural History for a field trip. The students will be exploring the dinosaur and African wild animal galleries, which they've been studying about in school. For many of these students, this trip will be the first chance they've had to experience life outside their neighborhood of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. The field trip is being chaperoned by volunteers from the Junior League and CFK Family. These volunteers will lead small groups through the galleries, talking with the kids about the exhibits and assisting them in completing simple worksheets.

The segment focus will be on the kindergarteners and their understanding, insight and reactions to the dinosaur history phenomenon. These youngsters will act as tour guides, giving us the opportunity to see dinosaurs as only a five-year old can and offering up unique and imaginative points of view. There will be one-hour tours of each gallery, with a lunch break in between. This promises to be a day filled with laughter, fun and surprises as we are lead into the hearts and minds of these young kids.
